Allocation made for 6 months for 5G Trials
According to the PTI sources, DoT has allocated the spectrum in the bands of 700 MHz, 3.5 GHz and 26 GHz to three telecommunications companies. The DoT Wireless Planning and Coordination Committee has allocated 100, 800 and 10, 5G airway units to these three telecom operators. These 5G test airways have been assigned for 6 months. Telecommunications companies will have to carry out tests in both urban and rural and semi-urban areas. With this step, 5G trials will not be limited to just cities. Why it is important for Jio-Airtel
The 5G test spectrum allocation is quite important to Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. The reason for this is that both companies have a 5G-ready network. Despite the Corona epidemic, the use of data from both companies has increased dramatically. The spectrum allocation will help these two companies to implement 5G services as soon as possible.
13 requests have been approved
Earlier this month, a report said that the DoT approved 13 requests for the 5G trial. The DoT received a total of 16 requests for the test. However, DoT has kept Chinese companies like ZTE and Huawei away from the 5G trial. The DoT has placed a variety of conditions on the approval of the test request. This includes the use of air waves for testing only. DoT has said that commercial use of these waves should not be used at all. If companies violate these conditions, they will face serious consequences.
