It is being said that Reliance Jio is planning to launch 5G telecom services within 6 months of spectrum allocation. This means that the company can launch 5G services in India by mid-2020.
Recently the government said that it is planning to allocate spectrum for 5G services by the end of 2019. Through this, the download speed can increase by 50 to 60 times.
Reliance Jio official on the condition of anonymity told Economic Times, ‘Jio has a 5G ready LTE network and once 5G spectrum has been allocated, we will be able to launch new technology based services within 5 to 6 months.
According to the official, Reliance Jio is pursuing a rapid expansion of optic fiber to effectively roll out 5G services.
According to a report by Morgan Stanley, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel had also indicated that they would use MIMO (Multiple Input-Multiple Output) Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) to tailor their network to 5G.
However, Jio executives said that the successful launch of 5G services may be hampered by the availability of devices that support the 5G spectrum. If there are no routers or equipment required to support 5G technology, it can become a big challenge.
He further said that two big global companies making chipsets i.e. Qualcomm of US and MediaTek 5G-based modem of Taiwan are developing. Apart from this, Reliance Industries is also negotiating with local and multinational vendors like Cisco, Samsung, Ericsson and Nokia for 5G trials in India to ensure the availability of devices before the commercial rollout of 5G.
On the other hand, if you talk about international standards, then devices connected with 5G technology are expected to be available next year. Unlike the previous upgrade of technology, Jio 5G and Jio 5G launch date will take less time to market.
At the same time, telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan recently said that the transition from 4G to 5G will be faster than 3G to 4G services.
Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha said, we have constituted a high-level 5G committee, which will work on the vision, mission, and goals of Jio 5G. When 5G technology is implemented in the world in 2020, I am confident that India will stand by them.
